“Is it just nerves or is it physical illness?”, we wondered before we set out on our quest to find suitable three-minute shorts on the subject of “trembling” for the 2006 Three-Minute Quickie. A pleasant surprise was the fact that the number of contestants in the qualifying round had doubled, even though the conditions for participation had been considerably exacerbated. After we received a meagre 108 submissions for last year’s subject, football, we had over 200 films to choose from this year, the best 30 of which made it to the finals.

 

All in all, it has been an unusual harvest this year, guaranteed to tickle your interest. But we have to admit that not everything went smoothly and the panel was not always able to agree on individual choices. The umpires had to disqualify some great favourites, because they offered no trembling, shaking, quaking or even vibrating at all. And in the end we all had to acknowledge that we still did not know where trembling stops and shaking starts.

 

The Three-Minute Quickie starts trembling on Thursday, 1 June at 10 p.m. in the Metropolis Cinema. It erupts in the Lichtmess Cinema on Friday, 2 June at 7:30 p.m., until it experiences its last twitchings on Saturday, 3 June at 10 p.m. in the zeise 1.
