A Wonderful Occasion

The European Co-ordination of Film Festivals has put together its fifth programme of short films - this time featuring eight outstanding historical documentaries. The films address a wide variety of topics and have their origins in eight different countries. The fact that they span a 40-year period in no way means they have lost either their relevance or the capacity to speak directly and honestly to the audience.

The directors are drawn from a broad spectrum of genres and cinematic movements. From the avant garde to poetic realism and the free cinema movement, a number of significant exponents of different approaches to the art of film-making come together under the heading of Europe In Shorts V: Classic Documentaries. The programme has already enjoyed successful and acclaimed screenings at short film festivals across Europe. So finally, a message to all those people who have yet to see these films - now's your chance.
