Between the Bosporus and Blankenese: short and independent films from Hanseatic Hamburg

Everything that appears on the screens in front OV your very eyes has been seen and enjoyed by us - several times. Now it's your turn to enjoy it and then indicate the extent OV that enjoyment by filling in a ballot paper and contributing to the selection OV a winner OV this year's audience prize and the 2,500 DM which goes with it. Should the decision reached by our 3-headed jury correspond to yours, then there will be a very happy winner indeed - there are two prizes this time round.

It's one thing to come up with a catchy title, but something utterly different to fill the gap between the opening titles and the closing credits with material worthy OV the audience's generosity. Some film-makers draw you into their experimentation, others opt for entertainment and a few OV the best manage both. Sometimes the screen is adorned by that strange breed, the actor, at others you find yourself rooting for stick-figures or weeping as a bicycle piles on the pathos - animation, is there nothing it cannot do?

Discover a whole world OV newcomers from the Bosporus to Blankenese and beyond be careful at Uhlandstrasse underground station, check out the holiest OV holies at Heiligengeistfeld and, if that's enough to unbalance you, then a moment OV deja vu courtesy OV Woody Allen will surely send you over the edge. What? You prefer books being brought to the screen? Your support group awaits...

Following each programme, there will be a chance to listen to and question those responsible for the films you have been watching. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you.
