One of our basic needs

It may come as something of a surprise, to some people at least, to learn that the concept of »thirst« need not necessarily have anything to do with alcohol – albeit that this is surely where it has the greatest potential to entertain.

Nevertheless, from time to time, you do come across other – absolutely legitimate – forms of thirst. Most of us have at least heard of a »thirst for knowledge« – a fine example of the thing. Then there‘s the »I have just performed some form of physical exertion« variety, although this is no longer the runner it once was – which saves me from having to mention diarrhoea, well, almost – and brings us neatly to the enforced thirst.
Over the course of viewing all the films submitted, it became clear that the thirst for a right good fright sat headless-shoulders above all other of that ilk. We are all familiar with it, although perhaps under different names. Which brings us almost all the way back round to »the thirst Afterwards« – mustn‘t forget that little beauty.

Exactly who is thirsting after what in this programme, well, our lips are sealed. There is a whole heap of drinking going on, we can assure you of that – at least, that’s how we remember it. However, we have decided to ditch our original idea of downing a dose in public of everything which crosses the on-screen lips in this programme.
