New prizes and special programmes

There will be six Special Programmes at the Festival

Focus on Lebanon: Films from a country that might not exist on your cinematographic map
- Work in Progress: Will anybody work in the future and how will work look like?
- What are the others up to? Steps in the Representation of the Other. Ethnographic Films from the early early days of cinema up until now
- Trac(k)ing Sound: This programme relates to our new prize for innovative sound editing and sound tracks. In these films the auditive level is forgrounded.
- Remixed Footage: Early science films / Found Footage meet live experimental music.
- 20 years of Brevity: Our brainchild, the Three-Minute-Quickie, celebrates its 20th anniversary. We'll be heading back to the mid-eighties screening winners and runners-up films from that category - full of creative nonsense that makes sense to us.

We're also glad to announce two new prizes at the Hamburg ShortFilmFestival.
The "Music in Shortfilm Award" by GEMA foundation and represented by Rockcity Hamburg e.V. will be awarded to best national and best international film soundtrack. The prize money will be 2,000 Euros in both categories.
The Pilsner Urquell Innovation Award. Until now we've only had an audience award for the German competition. This year, thanks to our new sponsor Pilsner Urquell we can also award a jury prize, remunerated with 2,000 Euros.
