Competitions

Probably the most likely result while researching competitions on the net is this:

Competition is the rivalry of two or more parties over something. Competition occurs naturally between living organisms which coexist in the same environment. For example, animals compete over water supplies, food, and mates. In addition, humans compete for attention, wealth, prestige, and fame.

(Statement on Wikipedia)

In the German version, there is no page titled "Wettbewerbe".

Which should no imply that there are no competitions in Germany. The Hamburg International ShortFilmFestival for example offers several categories in which the films compete over water supplies and mates. The organisational structure of these competitions is fairly easy: the International Competition, the NoBudget Competitions and the Mo&Friese Children's ShortFilmFestival are open for contestents from all over the world, while the nationality or shooting location are crucial for a participation in the German Competition. The Three-Minute-Competition is the pickiest of them all and accepts only films that smoke despite being underlength.
