My Favourite Song Just as expected, again we had a record number of submitted films this year - which I've already managed to forget. Especially as it was such an easy theme, or so we thought. But: LIKE HELL IT WAS! Even this turned out to be an incredible mistake. But at least it made the selection for the programme easier. Though I guess we shouldn't express our thanks for that... By the way, there was one outstanding phenomenon - who was the most filmed musical interpreter? Correct: Mr fascism himself! Yeah really, him - Adolf Hitler, the former Chancellor of the Reich and so on. And far far behind at the back of the pack were those, what was their names... the so-and-so... that Hamburg band with the one who sings so... and even Credence Clearwater Revival. Well, well... Finally we decided to leave 36 or 37 participants to the tough and highly impartial judgement of the cinema-going public. Although the 37th is already this year's winner of the Bambergian Equestrian Challenge Cup. This trophy goes to the person who was chosen by the audience in the Lichtmeß cinema on May 5th 2000 as having most clearly failed the theme. What a wonderful arrangement. The other 36 films come from all three continents and, delightfully often, feature non-tattooed and non-pierced musicians because, hey, there's no need to. Some of them have absolutely flawless brain damage anyway with or without Asian tribals. Bruni, for instance, or the Evergreens, these are people like you and the person beside you. It's nice that there were almost no double versions of your favourite songs. So you get to enjoy the hits you already wrote off years ago or never even put of your best-ever list. Thus this will be an educational event and not one which should oblige the viewer to think. What I'm really trying to say is: Whoever joins in the song gets thrown out, then gets kicked back in again and immediately thrown out again... For the statisticians among you: The most frequent first letter of the last name of the filmmakers was »G«. But also »K«. |
