Whoever has hesitated to visit the International Short Film Competition screenings to date should take
a look at these Internet pages (in order to start in a really silly Goldt-esque way). Afterwards he or she
will dance with joy at being allowed to relish something down to earth and close to life.

The competition section offers a broad range of exactly this in the eight programmes. Take for instance the bar fight »Hungarian style« shot in a single camera movement - this would put muscles of composure on you. Or the documentary about lignite mining in North Rhine-Westphalia. This contains an unbelievable mixture of Cy Twombley paintings and science fiction movie killer machines. The director will be praised for this movie in years to come.

We are also presenting some very funny items. Or can there be any doubts that it must end like this when those two dimwit fumblers, the German »Badesalz« comedy team, stick their heads together for a remake of a fairytale? Perhaps a more explosive subject is developing a punch-line for an attack by a Pittbull Terrier. Still it does work. In a way it's somehow okay that the bone at the elbow sticks out a little - only whoever runs around like that shouldn't feel too surprised... oh well, let's forget about that.

In addition to that we are again screening »mucho amore« (no, that's not porn you pervs) in various varieties and disciplines. One really likes people while the other may prefer rabbits.
The third creates an oppressive feeling because they have taken the end of love as their theme. Still it's good to have seen it.

Let me tell you - but only if you keep it secret - my flesh begins to creep every time I see a dog race. Even though I don't really like those quivering beasts. Honestly.
And it's not true we rejected one of the films submitted just because Simone's dog howled at it.

But now I'm digressing from the subject. In fact I should be writing about the International Short Film Competition. So - this year the programmes in the International Short Film Competition are again blessed with diversity. Enjoy them, they're worth it.

PS I wrote this text under the influence of calcium tablets.
