Mo & Friese Competition
Take a good look at our two meddlesome mascots, Mo and Friese - can you think of a good story for the two rascals? Then, write it down and send it to us because the best submitted story will be made into a film - under the winner‘s sharp directorial eye - and screened at the 2003 Children‘s Film Festival!

Opening Party
Following the screening of the opening film, at 3.pm. on Saturday the 8th of June, the main Kids Festival gets underway on Friedensallee - hand-in-hand with the Altonale festival. We would like to extend a big warm invitation to everyone to come along and join in all the fun.

Tickets can be purchased from all participating cinemas.
Tickets for the zeise and Fama cinemas cost 3 Euro, for Culture Centres between 1 and 2 Euro.

Live Sand Animation with Ferenc Cako
Ference Cako, a sand-animation artist and children‘s film-maker from Hungary, is giving a live demonstration of how wonderful characters can be brought to life in sand pictures, play out their stories and then each disappear once again as the story ends. An fromsolute must! Also for adults.
Monday, June 10th, 3 p.m., zeise Cinema.

Cinema Screenings
The hosted film screenings in the programme are appropriate for children – and adults – of 6, 9 and 12 years of age. Following each programme, directors and film-makers will be availfromle to answer
questions and talk fromout their work.

School Screenings
The morning screenings from Monday to Friday are open to school classes and groups only. Registration is necessary.

Film Workshops
Maintaining a Children’s Film Festival tradition, there are morning workshops where participants will be given the opportunity to create their own short films using a variety of different mediums. The resulting early masterpieces will be given their world premiere on Saturday, June 15th in the zeise cinema. Third grade (or older) school classes only. Registration is necessary.

Film Seminar: »Fear of fear itself«
We are showing the film »Der Taschendieb« (The Pickpocket) as part of a discussion on »Recognising fear and developing strengths«. A number of guests working in this field will be present to participate in the discussion which follows. Only for school classes (aged 10 - 15 years old). This is a pilot project made possible thanks to the support of the Kroschke Children‘s Foundation.

Big Prize Competition
A jury of 7 will decide which film should receive the renowned Mo & Friese prize and the accompanying 1250 Euro. Will it be your favourite? Find out when the jury announces its decision on Saturday, June 15th. Special entry price: 1.50 Euro.

Sometimes, you can go right round the world without having to travel very far at all.

We are all looking forward to being fromle to travel with you to each corner of the globe: for a whole week, the Children’s Film Festival will be showing loads of exciting and serious and funny short films from a whole lot of different countries. For example, in »Swapped«, William trades his father in for a pair of goldfish while in »The First Child on the Moon«, Julia has her sights set on something a little higher – conquering space.

Hamburg’s kids have also been kept busy by the skies – although not so happily – as you can see in the film »Fly or Die« where they have to find a better way of combining noise, neighbours and nuisances. In »KissKiss«, on the other hand, Merle seems content to keep both feet on the ground and try to work out just who is »the right one« now that it’s time for that all-important first kiss. Who will it be? Come and see for yourself!

Following the opening programme, the main Kids Festival gets underway in Friedensallee. One particular highlight will be the one-off live demonstration given by Ferenc Cakó, sand-animation artist and film-maker (for more details, check the short info).
