Christine Hansen: Once across the Atlantic and Back

Exhibition by Christina Hansen

102 years ago August Geyer founded the Kino-Kopiergesellschaft in Berlin. During their expansion, the company took over another pioneer of cinematic service providers, the Atlantik Film Kopierwerk.

In April 2013 a great chapter of analogue film history ended alongside this company’s long standing tradition, when their building in Hamburg-Rahlstedt was dismantled.

Hamburgian photographer Christina Hansen documented the dismantling over several months using analogue film technology. The Hanseatische Materialverwaltung saved a collection of objects and machines from the scrap heap, thus saving a lot of relics for posterity.
