The traditions, war aftermaths, corruption and lack of social development are some of the main characteristics that segregate the Balkan states from Europe, especially the ones that were created with the downfall of ex-Yugoslavia, including Turkey. Beside the said elements, Balkan countries are also known for their originality and creativity in everyday life but also in the formal and political life.

Being based in the reality, Balkan cinematography stands out with its filmmaking, which is focused on original, quite impressive and appalling stories. Although the storytelling methods are conventional, nevertheless they are effective and inclusive, and most important they are representative.

In this program you will have the opportunity to see a compilation of short films, which were carefully selected, based on the specifics of the countries that have aspirations to join the European Union.

This event has been made possible in part thanks to the support of the European Commission in the context of its awareness-raising campaign on EU enlargement.

Film Selection: Samir Karahoda (Dokufest Prizren)
