Best-of 30 Years Three-Minute Quickie

Thursday June 8th | 21:15 h | Festival Center, Physikalisches Labor

The Three-Minute Quickie’s success story started 30 years ago at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival. Film making under harsh conditions and with a predetermined subject – that was Markus Schäfer's and Axel Behrens’ core idea for this unique competition. While it initially started with 13 submissions on the subject ›hole‹, all of which were subsequently screened, it is now an institution which attracts around 300 film makers each year. The sold out premiere screening at the Lichtmess on festival-Wednesday, which usually turns the cinema into Hamburg’s largest sauna for three hours, has by now reached legendary status. As dictated by tradition, the audience selects the winner of the competition by using the longest ballot card of the festival with a list of 30 films. The subject for the next competition is always announced at the end of the festival, firing the starting pistol for the next series of productions. We’re looking forward to the next 30 years and present to you a best-of from the last 30 years with wonderfully absurd subjects such as ›It smells bad‹, ›The chancellor is dying‹ or ›backdoor‹. Enjoy!
