Special Screening: CineCeoil
Don’t be cynical but CineCeoil!*…
Friday June 9th | 17:30 h | Festival Center, Physikalisches Labor
Taking well recorded & shot music film back from shitty speakers & small screens.
A programme of films that document Ireland, her landscapes and musicians. We see and hear the state of the former through the words and images of the latter – in eleven pieces: six from John Mulvaney’s acclaimed ›Fractured‹ documentary series, which focuses on the extremes of Irish underground music, two from Daithi, one video featuring his grandfather, the other his grandmother – both using footage showing Galway’s rugged gorgeousness including lookout posts built during WWII as a means for Irish soldiers to keep an eye on the sea, one from Rusanagano Family, the most exciting and an incredibly socially engaged band in Ireland right now and shot right in The Burren, one of Ireland’s most historic and iconic spaces, one from ›Arbutus Yarns‹ recording Ye Vagabonds singing a Gaelic Ballad that is at least 250 years old intercut with modern Inner City Dublin. And then, finally, an incredible one-take spoken word piece from Weenz as he walks along the Shannon, the main river of Ireland, reflecting and responding at where Ireland is 101 years on from the Easter Rising.
*Ceoil means music in Irish
